Report: '90 percent possibility' of Victor Valdes joining Cruz Azul

Victor Valdes is reportedly on the verge of crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

Valdes, still contracted by Manchester United but exiled under Louis van Gaal and yet to take the pitch this Premier League season, is "one step away" from joining Mexican club Cruz Azul, with a "90 percent possibility" of a transfer between the clubs being completed, according to Imanol Guillen of Mundo Deportivo.

AS echoes Mundo Deportivo's report, writing that Valdes has been in Cruz Azul's "orbit" for a few weeks. Meanwhile, ESPN spoke to Gines Carvajal, the agent of the Catalan 'keeper, and Carvajal refused to confirm or deny his client will be heading to Mexico. However, Carvajal did admit over two months ago that the 33-year-old shot-stopper will leave United in January, saying: "He needs to go to a place he feels is right for him."

It was reported at the end of November that Valdes had had enough of being frozen out by Van Gaal and was on the brink of cancelling his contract with United.
