Hirving Lozano eyes European move; Pachuca recommends Celta Vigo

Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Mexico international Hirving Lozano wants to terrorise defenders in Europe, and has the go-ahead from Pachuca to do so.

"I feel good, ready, and prepared to get better and to play in a more competitive (league)," Lozano told Nacion ESPN, with translation from ESPN FC's Tom Marshall.

"People have told me that I have the possibility of going to play in a better, stronger league and hopefully I can improve my football."

The 21-year-old winger has apparently drawn interest from clubs such as Manchester United, Benfica, Ajax, and PSV Eindhoven, but Los Tuzos president Jesus Martinez tips Celta Vigo as an ideal next step in Lozano's career. The Galician outfit is currently handled by Argentinian Eduardo Berizzo, and has a Spanish-Mexican owner in Carlos Mourino.

There is also an agreement between Celta and Pachuca from November 2016, which intends to use the former outfit as a trying ground for potential Mexican stars, and for players to move the other way from La Liga to Liga MX.

"They are one of the teams that most attracts us," said Martinez. "There are a lot of other teams, he has a lot of offers and I believe that (Celta) is a team which suits us as much as the player ... It would be an ideal club for him."

Lozano could've moved in January, but his wife's pregnancy and the difficult transition to join a club without a full preseason encouraged him to delay his decision.

"We thought that it wasn't the time," Martinez said. "We didn't think, with full respect and without undervaluing, that the Netherlands or Portugal were where we believe he can reach his potential."
