Report: Chelsea's decision on Jose Mourinho hinges on £30M payoff

Facing the worst slump since the Premier League's inception in 1992, Chelsea is faced with the possibility of sacking manager Jose Mourinho, though a £30-million obstacle may hinder its decision.

Mourinho, who signed a four-year contract this summer, is treading perilously close to the firing line, but the club may be hesitant to pull the trigger due to a £10-million-per-year price tag, according to ESPN FC.

Saturday's 2-1 loss to West Ham may have been rock bottom for Mourinho, as the three-time Premier League winner's side sits 15th with five losses through 10 matches.

Despite being given a vote of confidence from owner Roman Abramovich following a 3-1 defeat to Southampton, a string of dismal results and reported falling-outs with several players have jeopardized Mourinho's place at the club.

John Terry, Cesc Fabregas, Gary Cahill, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Diego Costa have all lost faith in the gaffer, according to reports, further fueling speculation that Mourinho's walking on thin ice.

Rarely afraid to splash the cash for blockbuster transfers, Chelsea may have to do the same if it chooses to dismiss its embattled manager during these tough times.
