Jurgen Klopp or Carlo Ancelotti could be roaming the sidelines at Anfield during Liverpool's next match if the club can convince either manager to join the struggling Premier League side.

Liverpool has reached out to each manager's representatives about filling the void left by Brendan Rodgers's dismissal, according to Sky Sports.

Klopp is expected to be the team's preferred choice, while reports suggest Ancelotti will reject the opportunity to join the Merseyside outfit, according to ESPN FC.

Ancelotti has reportedly not completely ruled himself out of taking over, but would prefer to manage a side that's competing in the Champions League if he's going to bring his year-long sabbatical to an end.

The team is eager to have a new gaffer in place before its next match against Tottenham on Oct. 17, and have no intention of appointing a caretaker manager in the meantime.

In September, Klopp reportedly expressed an interest in managing a Premier League team, saying he was willing to cut his sabbatical short if the right opportunity opened up.

Neither has managed since the conclusion of disappointing campaigns with their respective teams last season.

Klopp last managed Borussia Dortmund before deciding to step down from the role he held for seven seasons, while Ancelotti saw his time with Real Madrid come to an abrupt end when he was fired and replaced by former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.
