Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers admits he's under pressure

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is feeling the heat with only two wins through six matches in the Premier League.

Following the team's latest discouraging match, which saw Liverpool eke out a victory over third-division outfit Carlisle United in the Capital One Cup, Rodgers acknowledged his role at the club is in jeopardy, but says he intends to go about business as usual.

"I'm never complacent enough to think it never has been," Rodgers responded when asked if his job was under threat. "You need to be at your best every day when you come into a club of this stature, and thrive on that positive fear. It does not affect me.

"I have a belief in what I do. We nearly achieved great things. We have a new group of players and we are looking to take it forward. I do not shy away from the fact we need to get results and perform well."

Doubts over his role at Anfield aren't just football-related after reports out of Germany suggest former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp would cut his sabbatical short if a job in England becomes available.

However, managers being reported as Rodgers' successor is nothing new to him, and he accepts that a club with Liverpool's reputation will always be an attractive destination.

"When you are a manager of a club this size there is always going to (be) speculation around your job and when you don't win that will intensify.

"Since I have been here I think there have been 10 managers linked with job. That is part and parcel of the game."

Liverpool will look to get its Premier League campaign back on track Saturday during an encounter with Aston Villa before resuming the Europa League with a match at home against Sion.
