Tottenham will have to go back to the drawing board or just simply give up on its pursuit of West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino after seeing its second bid swiftly rejected.

The Midlands side rejected a £22-million offer from Spurs on Tuesday, according to John Percy of the Telegraph, a week after West Brom publicly rejected Tottenham's first offer, believed to be worth £18 million.

West Brom released a brief statement confirming Tottenham's second offer Tuesday that reaffirmed its reluctance to sell the 22-year-old.

"Our position remains unchanged. The sale of this player is not on our agenda," club chairman Jeremy Peace said.

Percy reports that West Brom is unwilling to let the talented striker leave the Midlands for a price lower than its valuation of £25 million, but even then, the team might object to letting him depart the Hawthorns.

Despite Tottenham's latest failure, the transfer saga shows no signs of ending. Berahino handed in a written transfer request only to see his club reject it, which could cost the Baggies financially in the future.

West Brom's public rejection of his transfer request may prompt teams to begin circling the waters, assuming Berahino is unsettled and could be procured at reduced cost.
