Yaya Toure's agent backtracks, insists client will stay at Manchester City

Being 90 percent sure of something clearly doesn't mean much in the world of football.

After recently claiming that he was "90 percent certain" his client would be leaving Manchester City this summer, Yaya Toure's agent, Dimitri Seluk, backtracked in a big way Monday, insisting that the 31-year-old defensive midfielder will stay at the Etihad Stadium.

In conversation with Sky Sports News HQ, Seluk admitted that other clubs have made offers for Toure, but City said he was "too important to let go." He also denied pushing for a new, improved contract for Toure, who is reportedly City's highest earner on roughly £220,000 per week and who signed a four-year contract in April 2013.

Inter Milan president Erick Thohir confessed in mid-May that he was trying to bring Toure to the San Siro, saying: "What is clear is we will continue to try to bring him here." It was also reported around the same time that City had offered Toure to Juventus as part of a deal for Paul Pogba.

Toure finished the 2014-15 Premier League season with 10 goals and one assist to his name, a fraction of the numbers he produced in City's title-winning campaign in 2013-14, as he appears to be struggling more and more with the defensive role he finds himself playing under manager Manuel Pellegrini.
