Burnley grabs point with late penalty vs Villa

BURNLEY, England (AP) Danny Ings' 87th-minute penalty earned Burnley a valuable 1-1 draw against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.

Playing its first game since Roy Keane quit as assistant manager, Villa more than deserved its lead provided by Joe Cole in the 38th minute on his first league start for the club. But the visitors to Turf Moor paid the price for not pushing harder for a second goal.

Burnley looked to make it three straight wins in the top flight for the first time in almost 40 years and Ings could have scored his fifth goal in five games but hit the post in stoppage time.

Villa has 13 points from 13 games and is just outside the relegation zone, unlike Burnley which is one point above bottom-place Leicester.

Former Manchester United captain Keane quit Villa on Friday, saying he was finding it too hard to combine the position with his role in Ireland's coaching staff.
