Stoke draws 1-1 with Southampton

STOKE, England (AP) Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic scored with a kick across the length of the pitch after just 13 seconds, but it was not enough to secure a much needed Premier League win for his team as Southampton came back to earn a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

On a windy day at the Britannia stadium, Begovic scored almost immediately with a kick from his own area that bounced before flying into Artur Boruc's goal.

Southampton leveled in the 42nd minute as James Ward-Prowse crossed the ball from the right for Jay Rodriguez to head it home for his third goal in his last four Premier League appearances.

After 10 games, Stoke is 16th in the standings, just one point above the relegation zone.
