Norwich beats Southampton 1-0 in Premier Leauge

NORWICH, England (AP) Nathan Redmond scored in the second half Saturday to give Norwich a 1-0 win over Southampton for the team's first Premier League victory of the season.

In a frenetic, end-to-end clash at a sold-out Carrow Road, both teams had what seemed like a clear penalty denied and the hosts' 19-year-old winger proved the difference as he capped a fine performance with the winner.

Redmond's pace often had Southampton on the back foot and he scored the decisive goal in the 68th minute by cutting in from the left to unleash a fierce drive from the edge of the box.

Southampton could have been ahead in the first half when Bradley Johnson clearly handled an Adam Lallana strike in front of Howard Webb, but the referee waved away those claims. Webb then also waved off Norwich's appeals in stoppage time when Robert Snodgrass was brought down in the area by Jose Fonte.
