Massimiliano Allegri hoping to spoil Xavi's farewell party with Juventus win

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri wants to ensure that Xavi departs Barcelona on a losing note.

Looking ahead to his side's date versus the Catalan club in the Champions League final, Allegri stated Friday his intentions to crash Xavi's farewell party after the 35-year-old Barcelona icon confirmed this week that he'll be taking his aging legs to Qatari side Al-Sadd at the end of the season.

"I think it'll be a very tough match," Allegri said. "However, as we saw on Wednesday night (the Coppa Italia final), the league table said it should have been a foregone conclusion, but that certainly wasn't the case. The final in Berlin will be the same.

"We can't be afraid of Barcelona. They have three fantastic players up front. Then they have (Andres) Iniesta in midfield - he's the player that dictates the way the team plays. We need to try and spoil the party and put a dampener on Xavi's farewell. He has been an extraordinary player for Barcelona and in world football as a whole."

After Juventus dethroned Real Madrid in the semifinals of the Champions League, a result that marked the Old Lady's first return to the final in 12 years, Allegri showed zero signs of being intimidated by Barcelona, saying: "They have a stratospheric front three and we go to Berlin convinced we can bring home the trophy."

Xavi, meanwhile, is seeking his fourth Champions League title following success in 2005-06, 2008-09, and 2010-11.
