Atletico Madrid star Fernando Torres has his sights set on a historic double with his club as the Rojiblancos enter the final stretch in La Liga tied for first and prepare for a Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich.

The Spanish striker, winner of a FIFA World Cup crown, has tasted glory of the highest magnitude but yearns to add another layer to his accomplishments by bringing those trophies to his boyhood club.

"I feel very lucky to have been with great teams. The national team gave me the chance to live some incredible nights and win big titles," Torres said, according to Sky Sports. "But for me personally nothing compares to what it would be like to (win) with Atletico."

Atletico Madrid is tied at 82 points with Barcelona in the league table with three fixtures remaining in the 2015-16 La Liga season. But first, Torres and his teammates will need to deal with Bayern Munich at the Vicente Calderon before heading to Germany next week for the reverse fixture.

"We have a fantastic opportunity in front of us, a great tie against one of the big favourites without doubt," Torres said, of Bayern. "What we want to do is write new history. Hopefully in a week's time we can say we have taken another step towards it."
