Entering Wednesday, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim hadn't defeated Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga since May 18, 2013.
Sebastian Rudy attempted to rewrite the script.
Taking on a Dortmund side that won its first five fixtures of the season, Hoffenheim took a 1-0 lead into the interval after Rudy slotted a shot past the outstretched right leg of 'keeper Roman Burki in the 42nd minute.
Unfortunately for Hoffenheim, a second-half equaliser from none other than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang means that the club will have to wait until Feb. 27 for another chance to end its winless streak against Dortmund.
However, Hoffenheim can take pride in being the first club to deny Thomas Tuchel's side of three points this season.
