Joe Zinnbauer's time at the Volksparkstadion is up, as Hamburger SV fired the 44-year-old manager Sunday.
The sacking comes two days after Hamburg fell 1-0 to Hertha Berlin at home, a result that left the club in the relegation zone of the Bundesliga.
Zinnbauer initially took over as Hamburg's manager in September, stepping up from his role as coach of their under-23 side. However, as CEO Dietmar Beiersdorfer pointed out in the official statement regarding the sacking, the club was forced to make a change with Hamburg sitting 16th in the league table with only 25 points from 26 fixtures.
Director of football Peter Knabel will take over as manager until the end of the season.
