Bundesliga invites tenders for implementation of goal-line technology

Although a League Association members' meeting in March failed to gather the two-thirds majority that is required for the Bundesliga to implement goal-line technology, a renewed request has led to the league sending out an invitation to tenders regarding the introduction of the electronic system.

Following the 2014 DFB-Pokal final, Bayern Munich, who defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the match, submitted a second request for the implementation of goal-line technology. The Bundesliga will now vote on the proposal once again in December.

While a two-thirds vote will once again be required, tenders have already been invited to register in "an open, transparent, and discrimination-free tender process," suggesting that the implementation will receive the necessary number of votes this time around.

The league claims that the new system will not be implemented any earlier than July 1, 2015, and any contract that's given to a tender will run until the end of the 2017-18 season.
