England international Georgia Stanway scored the opener as Bayern Munich secured their second successive women's Bundesliga title with a 2-1 win at Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

Stanway's close-range finish put Bayern ahead early on, and the champions held firm to claim their 17th win of the season.

The win put Bayern seven points clear of title rivals Wolfsburg with two games to go and secured a fifth women's Bundesliga title for the Munich giants.

"It feels great! To win the title is hard, but to defend it is even harder, so it's a fantastic achievement for us," Stanway told the Bayern website.

Bayern and Wolfsburg face each other in the women's German Cup final this Thursday, with the newly crowned champions looking to complete a domestic double.

Bayern have not won the cup since 2012, while Wolfsburg have won it in each of the last nine seasons, and have not lost a single cup game since 2013.
