Muller, Costa, Neuer doubtful for Bayern's showdown with Dortmund
Bayern Munich suffered a rare hiccup on its hunt for the Bundesliga title with a 1-0 loss at Hoffenheim on Tuesday, and may not be able to call upon Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller, and Douglas Costa when it strives to correct its pursuit for silverware against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
Muller was filmed training alone outside Thursday, a day after Costa returned in a public session alongside Philipp Lahm, Franck Ribery, Thiago Alcantara, and others who didn't feature in the Hoffenheim defeat.
Neuer was also in rehab training Wednesday, and Reuters reports he's still a doubt for the Dortmund test.
There is brighter news for Robert Lewandowski, however, who tweeted he will "be ready" for the weekend wrangle with his former club after leaving Thursday's training session with a thigh concern.
"That was a setback at just the right time," defender Mats Hummels said of the surprise 1-0 reverse at Hoffenheim. "It is obvious that when we are passive in our game we are not even half as strong as when we bring a certain intensity into it."
"So on Saturday we will give it all we have," he added
Bayern Munich follows the Dortmund tilt with a visit from Real Madrid in their Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday.
