Bayern's Hummels an injury doubt ahead of Koln match

Bayern Munich could be without Mats Hummels against FC Koln after the central defender was forced to leave Wednesday's win over Schalke with a buttock injury and admitted Saturday's match may be too soon for a return.

A feeling of discomfort forced Hummels to leave Wednesday's contest, with the Germany international insisting the injury isn't serious and hopes to be available against Koln.

"My first impression is that it's not too bad and perhaps I'll be able to train on Friday, but at the moment I don't know," Hummels told reports, according to Mark Lovell of ESPNFC.

"But I definitely would like to be able to play in Koln."

With the second leg of Bayern's Champions League Round of 16 match against Arsenal on the horizon, Hummels may be rested Saturday as a precaution.

"With Arsenal in mind, I didn't want to take any chances and risk making the injury worse," he added.

Bayern, who holds a five-point advantage atop the Bundesliga table, looks set to progress into the quarter-finals as the German giant enters the March 7 encounter with a 5-1 lead over the Gunners.
