Boateng warns Sane about British press
Just in case Leroy Sane hasn't noticed yet since joining Manchester City, Jerome Boateng decided to offer some friendly advice to his compatriot about the need to make a quick impact before he becomes a target for the British media.
It's advice Boateng certainly could have used during his lacklustre spell with Manchester City before returning back to Germany where he's blossomed into one of the world's top defenders with Bayern Munich.
In an interview with SportBild, as translated by ESPNFC, Boateng painted a bleak picture of life in England, and the constant pressure the media puts on players upon their arrival in England.
"As a player you have to function immediately in England," Boateng said. "The reality is you really need time to settle due to the different style of football.
"But you don't enjoy any honeymoon period with the English press, who are immediately on your case. That isn't easy for players.
"Some can handle criticism better than others, but some question what on earth am I doing here? Everything is terrible, even the weather. Many players are broken by this."
Since joining City from FC Schalke 04 this past summer, Sane has struggled to break into Pep Guardiola's first team - managing just three appearances as a substitute.
