Antonio Rudiger will be remaining at the Stadio Olimpico next season, as Roma announced Monday it activated a €9-million clause to make the German defender's move to the Italian capital permanent.
Rudiger, 23, spent the past season on loan from Stuttgart.
"The agreement also includes an additional payment of €0.5M depending on whether Rudiger triggers specific sporting clauses," a statement from the club read.
Rudiger, included in Germany's provisional squad for Euro 2016, made 30 Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi in 2015-16, forming a central defensive partnership with in-demand Greek international Kostas Manolas.
