An unidentified Seattle Dragons player tested positive for the coronavirus, the XFL confirmed to Tom Schad of USA TODAY Sports on Saturday.

"The league is alerting players, staff, vendors, and partners associated with the Dragons, Roughnecks, and BattleHawks," the XFL said in a statement. "The XFL is monitoring the situation closely and taking every measure necessary in accordance with recommendations set forth by the CDC."

The unidentified player was asymptomatic when he appeared in the Dragons' previous two games against the St. Louis BattleHawks on Feb. 29 and Houston Roughnecks on March 7, according to the XFL. However, he later began to experience symptoms of the COVID-19 virus and has been in quarantine since reporting those symptoms to Seattle's medical staff this past Tuesday.

An XFL spokesperson told Schad that as of Saturday morning, the player is the only person on an XFL roster who's tested positive for the coronavirus.

On March 12, the XFL suspended its season amid the coronavirus outbreak, joining many other sports leagues around the world that have taken a similar approach.
