Roughnecks' Lewis says excitement induced viral in-game vomit
The XFL's opening weekend featured a number of noteworthy moments, but perhaps none went as viral as Kahlil Lewis' mighty heave.
The Houston Roughnecks receiver threw up while lining up for a one-point conversion attempt. The incident was caught on video, which was shared across various social media platforms.
"Oh, my gosh, everybody keeps hitting me up about that," Lewis said, according to ESPN's Sarah Barshop. "I ran down the field when (receiver) Cam (Phillips) scored and I was screaming. I caught myself screaming too hard. I was like, 'Oh, calm down,' but it was already coming back up.
"So I was just trying to hold it in. That's why it all came out at once."
Lewis claimed he wasn't nervous but was rather overcome with enthusiasm following Houston's 50-yard touchdown.
"I was just too excited," he said. "I was screaming, and I had just chugged a whole Gatorade. It came up. That is all. It wasn't nerves. None of that, out of shape. Nothing everybody's been coming to me with; it's none of that at all."
The Roughnecks earned a dominant 37-17 victory over the Los Angeles Wildcats in their season opener.
