Kiki Bertens won her first Madrid Open title Saturday, defeating Simona Halep 6-4, 6-4.

Bertens, who entered the tournament ranked seventh in the world, didn't drop a single set throughout the competition, becoming the first woman in the history of the event to do so.

With the win, Bertens will move up to No. 4 in the world, marking the first time in her career the 27-year-old has cracked the top five. She will also surpass Betty Stove to hold the highest ranking ever by a Dutch woman.

Bertens also reached the final of last year's tournament but lost in three sets to Petra Kvitova.
