Brazilian-born striker Diego Costa surely expected a hostile reception for his team's World Cup opener against the Netherlands in Savador on Friday. After all, Costa only recently chose to represent Spain - and not his nation of birth - internationally.
Sadly, Costa's reception was far worse than booing and hissing fans, according to multiple reports.
Brazilians at the Spain v Holland game are chanting something fairly homophobic at 'traitor' Diego Costa. "Diego viado"

Google lists the closest translation for "viado" as "f*ggot."
FIFA has spent considerable time and money on eliminating racism from the sport and its fans. Perhaps its time to shift some of that attention to homophobia.
