In a tournament full of both, it should come as no surprise that the opening goal of the World Cup final was an own goal off a set piece.
After earning a free-kick just beyond Croatia's penalty area, Antoine Griezmann's delivery into the box was inadvertently headed past Danijel Subasic by the 'keeper's teammate Mario Mandzukic, giving the Croatian forward the dubious honour of the first ever own goal in a World Cup final and France a (short-lived) 1-0 lead.
