A'ja Wilson wins WNBA MVP for record 4th time

Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson is the 2025 WNBA MVP, the league announced Sunday, cementing her as the first four-time winner in WNBA history.

Wilson received 51 out of a possible 72 first-place votes and was penciled in second on every other ballot. Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier received 18 first-place bids. Phoenix Mercury vet Alyssa Thomas was the only other player to garner first-place consideration, receiving three.

The Aces star was handed the trophy Friday by her partner, Miami Heat forward Bam Adebayo.

The 29-year-old Wilson led the Association in points (23.4) and blocks (2.3) per game and ranked second in rebounds (12.6). She was also a co-winner of the 2025 Defensive Player of the Year alongside Lynx forward Alanna Smith. It's the second time in which the Aces star has pulled off the MVP-DPOY double, also doing so in 2022. She led Las Vegas to its first championship in franchise history that season.

The Aces open their playoff semifinal series Sunday against the Indiana Fever.

Wilson was previously tied with Lisa Leslie at three MVP awards. Leslie won in 2001, 2004, and 2006 as part of a 12-year career spent solely with the Los Angeles Sparks.

Adding to Wilson's stellar season, she is the first player to average 20 points and 10 boards in multiple seasons. She also set a record for most 30-point games in a single year with 13.
