Report: Ex-Finals MVP Meeseeman joining Liberty
Belgian forward Emma Meesseman is joining the New York Liberty, sources told ESPN's Alexa Philippou.
The 32-year-old reportedly also considered the Minnesota Lynx and Phoenix Mercury before committing to the defending champs.
The timing of Meesseman's arrival in the Big Apple depends on the processing of her visa application, Philippou added.
The two-time All-Star last played in the WNBA during the 2022 campaign with the Chicago Sky, averaging 12.4 points, 5.6 boards, 3.8 assists, and 1.4 steals across 36 appearances.
Meesseman spent her previous seven WNBA seasons with the Washington Mystics, capturing Finals MVP honors in 2019 after leading the franchise to its first championship.
Meesseman has been playing for Turkish club Fenerbahce since leaving the WNBA, winning three straight EuroLeague MVP awards during that span. She suited up for Belgium earlier this summer in EuroBasket.
Her decorated career also features six EuroLeague titles, five All-EuroLeague first-team selections, and a Turkish Cup Final MVP nod.
