The Atlanta Dream acquired veteran center Kia Vaughn from the Phoenix Mercury in exchange for a 2023 third-round pick, the team announced Monday.
Vaughn averaged 4.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in just under 16 minutes per game for the Mercury, serving primarily as Brittney Griner's backup.
The 35-year-old is owed $110,000 for 2022. She will be an unrestricted free agent in 2023.
Atlanta possesses a wide-open cap sheet ahead of Feb. 1, when new contracts can officially be signed. The team was previously linked to free-agent center Kiah Stokes, though she is now set to return to the Las Vegas Aces, reports Khristina Williams of Girls Talk Sports TV.
