Canada has named forward Maxime Comtois captain of its 2019 World Junior Hockey Championship squad, the team announced Tuesday.

Comtois, who will turn 20 next month, is the only returning player from last year's gold medal-winning squad. He scored three goals and six points in seven games at the 2018 tournament.

The Longueuil, Quebec native was drafted 50th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2017. Comtois tallied a pair of goals and seven points in 10 games for the Ducks earlier this season, but he was returned to the QMJHL's Drummondville Voltigeurs in November.

Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Evan Bouchard, and Ian Mitchell will serve as Canada's alternate captains.

Canada opens its tournament on Wednesday against Denmark in Vancouver.
