Argentina's football side falls victim to hotel break-in
Argentina's Rio 2016 team returned from Thursday night's 0-0 friendly draw with Mexico to ransacked hotel rooms, as players had money and personal items stolen.
The country's federation delegate Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia confirmed the news on Friday, with Uruguayan publication Espectador stating tablets and clothing were among the items taken during the break-in in Puebla, Mexico.
"No one was hurt because no one was in the rooms at the time, but we realised there had been a robbery when we returned to the hotel from the stadium," said Tapia. "Now we are looking into finding out who was responsible for the crime.
"When we returned to the hotel to change for dinner we realized that everything was all messed up. We were missing personal items and money. Someone must be held responsible."
The bigger names involved in La Albiceleste's Olympic bid include goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli, Jonathan Calleri and Paris Saint-Germain new boy Giovanni Lo Celso, and the side begins its campaign against Portugal in Rio de Janeiro on Aug. 4.
