Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Borussia Dortmund career may be reaching an ignominious end after more disciplinary issues, but his goalscoring exploits will be etched into the Bundesliga record books when he's done.

The three-time top scorer in the German top flight now shares the title of the Bundesliga's most prolific African with Tony Yeboah after netting his 96th goal in Saturday's Ruhr derby with Schalke.

The Gabonese hitman scored the first in a 25-minute four-goal salvo for Dortmund, sliding in at the back stick to bundle the ball over the line. Peter Bosz's side entered the tie off the back of three straight league losses - the first time Dortmund suffered that fate since 2014 - and with just one point taken from the last 15 on offer, so it was a remarkable start to the fierce rivalry with previously in-form Schalke.

He moved level with Yeboah, the Ghanaian who played for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1990s and later represented Hamburg. Despite banging in so many goals in Germany, the striker is perhaps best known for his stint with Leeds United in the Premier League.
