Toronto FC and the New England Revolution are assured of progression into the MLS is Back Tournament's knockout rounds following Tuesday's 0-0 draw.

The Revs could finish third in Group C if D.C. United beat the Montreal Impact by two or more goals later in the day. However, Bruce Arena's side would still advance as one of the four best third-placed teams given the inferior records of New York City FC and the Seattle Sounders in Groups A and B, respectively.

New England started the second period well following a strong first-half showing from Toronto. Diego Fagundez went close when his 54th-minute effort deflected off Chris Mavinga and bounced wide, and Brandon Bye headed just past Alex Bono's post from the subsequent corner.

TFC marksman Ayo Akinola, who scored five goals over his first two outings in Orlando, was thwarted by goalkeeper Matt Turner in the 79th minute after the 20-year-old impressively fought off defender Henry Kessler.

A goalless draw wasn't a surprising result for the Revolution - they've only conceded once during the group stage after Antonio Mlinar's loose back pass against D.C. United was preyed upon by Federico Higuain. Toronto FC, meanwhile, were shut out after netting six times in the opening two matches.
