VIDEO: Traore rescues Monaco with late goal over Anderlecht
AS Monaco striker Lacina Traore left it late, but saved his team from defeat with an 85th minute goal against Anderlecht, giving his team a 1-1 draw away from home.
Traore pounced on the late effort after newcomer Stephan El Shaarawy turned and aimed at goal. His shot was saved by the Anderlecht 'keeper, but the rebound landed kindly for Traore, who headed home to give his side an equalizer.
Anderlecht's first goal came in like a heat-seeking missile as midfielder Guillaume Gillet began streaming in from the right wing, waiting for a whiff of the ball. When the cross eventually came in, Gillet struck well, smacking the ball with his right foot after making a 30-yard run into the box.
The single point gained by both Anderlecht and Monaco leaves both clubs tied for second in Group J, after one day of UEFA Europa League group play.
