It's been more than 23 years since Ajax captured its first and only UEFA Cup title, and while the competition is now known as the Europa League, the club's desire for European silverware remains the same.

Looking to reproduce its success from 1991-92, Ajax defeated Jablonec 1-0 at Amsterdam ArenA on Thursday in the first leg of their Europa League play-off, bringing the club 90 minutes closer to entering the group stage.

The match's lone goal came in the 54th minute, when Arkadiusz Milik converted a penalty stemming from a foul on Davy Klaassen in Jablonec's penalty area.

Supporters of Ajax surely weren't surprised to see Milik opt for the low right corner, as he's done so each and every time he steps up to the penalty spot.

Milik's goal failed to open the floodgates for Ajax, however, and there will be everything to play for in the second leg, which goes on Aug. 27 at Chance Arena.
