VIDEO: Super-sub Kevin Gameiro sends Sevilla to Europa League semifinals
When in doubt, just insert Kevin Gameiro.
Sevilla was minutes away from being eliminated in the Europa League on Thursday, as a ridiculous 40-yard chip from Hulk in the 72nd minute of the second leg meant that Zenit St. Petersburg was set to advance to the semi-finals on away goals.
However, immediately following Hulk's goal, Sevilla manager Unai Emery made the wise - and perhaps desperate - choice to substitute Gameiro into the match, and the super-sub delivered in the 85th minute by slotting home a composed shot that secured the reigning champions' progression.
Gameiro's goal, his seventh as a substitute in all competitions this season, means that Sevilla can still make history in the Europa League.
Three-time Europa League champions Sevilla (2006, 2007 and 2014) are still in the run to become first team with 4 EL/UEFA/Fairs Cup trophies
