The summer transfer window will be pushed back and terms of contracts set to expire June 30 will be extended amid a work stoppage due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to BBC Sport's Simon Stone.

FIFA and its federations, clubs, players, and leagues reached an agreement over several issues, including the adjustment of various schedules, Stone reports.

The governing body's decisions stem from the understanding that domestic leagues and club competitions won't be completed by June 30 as was initially hoped for.

Amended dates for the summer transfer window will be finalized by FIFA under the stipulation that it will take place between the completion of the 2019-20 campaign and the start of the next season. FIFA will attempt to adjust the transfer window in accordance with the various leagues in hopes of harmonizing the process, according to Stone.

Additionally, contracts slated to expire June 30 will now be extended to reflect the completion of the respective domestic campaigns.

FIFA has also advised clubs and players to reach agreements on wage reductions in order to protect clubs from suffering financial damage.

Several outfits across Europe have already announced wage cuts, with Serie A confirming Monday a unanimous decision to impose league-wide pay cuts for players and first-team staff.
