Former Dutch hope Urby Emanuelson joins Sheffield Wednesday
Carlos Carvalhal has made a late addition to his Sheffield Wednesday squad with the signing of ex-Dutch wunderkind Urby Emanuelson on Tuesday.
The move is subject to international clearance, although it's hoped Emanuelson will be available for Saturday's tilt with Wigan Athletic. No contract duration was disclosed for the permanent deal.
The transfer window slammed shut last Wednesday, but the 30-year-old was available on a free transfer after spending the latter half of last term with Hellas Verona in Serie A.
Emanuelson exploded into the continent's consciousness through his bulldozing performances from left-back at Ajax, and then clinched the 2010-11 Serie A title under four months into his three-and-a-half years of employment at AC Milan.
The Amsterdam native, who's equally adept higher up the left flank, has also turned out for AS Roma, Fulham, and Atalanta over a career that many believed would've earned more than his current tally of 16 Netherlands caps.
In Owlerton, Emanuelson links up with a side that has promotion aspirations but is experiencing a stuttering start to the 2016-17 campaign, with five points collected from a possible 15.
