New Ajax boss Peter Bosz relishing opportunity
Moving on after six seasons with Frank de Boer at the helm of the Amsterdam club, Ajax has hired Peter Bosz to replace the former Dutch international, and understandably, the new gaffer appears pleased with the appointment.
"This is a great moment for me as a coach. I’ve never hidden the fact that I wanted to work with a top Dutch team," Bosz told Ajax's official website.
Bosz, who previously played in the Dutch top flight with the likes of Feyenoord, Vitesse, and NAC Breda, was managing Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv before being offered the top job with the four-time European champs.
"For that reason, I made sure that my contract with Maccabi included a special clause that made it possible for me to take this step. It’s an honour that Ajax approached me for this job."
"I’m extremely ambitious, and so is Ajax. I knew this, of course, but it became even more apparent during the meetings we had," Bosz added.
"I would have loved to leave Maccabi after winning the cup. But it’s now time for holidays and after that, I’ll be able to start the job in Amsterdam with lots of energy."
Bosz joins the club on a three-year contract that ends on June 30, 2019.
