Mohamed Salah suffers horrific ankle injury in Derby della Capitale
The Derby della Capitale, devoid of violence in the stands as AS Roma's ultras and Lazio's ultras boycotted the fixture, was not immune to brutality on the pitch.
In the opening moments of the second half, Mohamed Salah found himself on the receiving end of a vicious tackle from Senad Lulic, who stepped on the Egyptian forward's right ankle, forcing him to exit the match on a stretcher.
Somehow, Lulic escaped punishment.
Here's video of the dreadful injury:
After the final whistle, manager Rudi Garcia was unable to confirm the extent of Salah's injury, but didn't hesitate to criticise Lulic, saying such a tackle has no place in a game of such significance.
.@RudiGarcia: "@22mosalah's injury? You've seen the images, I'll say no more. I just hope there's no break." #RomaLazio

Roma eventually claimed a 2-0 victory in the derby, which was boycotted by Lazio's ultras in solidarity with Roma's supporters, protesting a decision from police to erect a barrier in the Curva Sud of the Stadio Olimpico.
