Buffon pens heartfelt goodbye to Pirlo: 'Thank you for the tears of joy and sadness we cried'
Many a tear was shed among Juventus supporters when Andrea Pirlo's long-rumoured move to New York City FC was made official Monday.
Nobody, it seems, was more distraught by the move than longtime friend and teammate Gianluigi Buffon. The iconic Juventus shot-stopper penned a touching farewell message to the MLS-bound midfielder Tuesday, taking to his Facebook page to wish Pirlo well in his new endeavour.
They’ve used different words to tell you goodbye and wish you many other victories; I would like to use one word gathering the whole life we lived together: Friend.
Good luck my friend. Good luck for your present and your future. Thank you for our past lived together. Thank you for the carefree hours spent together. Thank you for the tears of joy and sadness we cried, always supporting each other. Thank you for having taught me that sometimes in this sport people can make things, that the most think impossible, becoming real.
A friend is the most precious thing people can have, and the best thing people can be. I am sure about this first sentence and I live and hope for the second one.
Is it dusty in here? Yeah, it's definitely dusty in here.
