AC Milan releases Sulley Muntari
Sulley Muntari will be in search of a new club this summer after being released by AC Milan on Tuesday.
Both parties agreed to end their relationship by mutual consent a year after Muntari signed a two-year contract.
"AC Milan and Sulley Muntari have reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract that tied the player to the club," the team said in a statement. "AC Milan would like to thank Muntari for his dedication and professionalism during his years at the club and wish him all the best for the future."
The decision comes after a frustrating year at the San Siro for Mutari in which he only managed to make 16 appearances during AC Milan's lacklustre 10th-place finish in Serie A.
His deteriorating relationship with the club was on full display when he threw his jersey to the ground in a fit of rage after being substituted during a match against Torino in January.
