Cagliari officially relegated, ending 11-year run in Serie A

For the first time since 2003-04, Serie A will be bereft of Cagliari.

The club was officially condemned to the relegation zone on Sunday after falling 1-0 to Palermo - a result that means they can no longer catch Atalanta in 17th place to extend their 11-year stay in the top flight of Italian football.

The Sardinian joins Parma and Cesena as the three clubs who will drop into Serie B next season.
