Fiorentina confirm yet another knee surgery for Giuseppe Rossi
You can't help but feel sorry for Giuseppe Rossi.
The striker, whose career has been blighted by a series of debilitating knee injuries, will go under the knife yet again, as Fiorentina confirmed Monday that Rossi's ailing right knee requires further medical attention.
Rossi, who has missed upwards of two years with various knee problems — including a four-month absence last season that ultimately cost him the chance to take part in the World Cup with Italy — will undergo the same "keyhole" surgery that both Arturo Vidal and Luis Suarez had earlier this summer.
Both men were able to make quick recoveries and participate in the World Cup, as the procedure is more diagnostic than anything — something that should offer some comfort to both the player and supporters of the club. However, there was no word from the Viola on how long the American-born Italian will be on the sidelines.
Between both Fiorentina and former side Villarreal, the 27-year-old has featured in just 31 league matches over the last three seasons.
