Report: Roma set to sign Nainggolan
MILAN, Jan 07, 2014 - Serie A title-chasers Roma are set to beat a number of rival clubs in the race to sign Radja Nainggolan from Cagliari, accoring to Italian media reports Tuesday.
Cagliari president Massimo Cellino recently said Nainggolan, one of the form players in the league this season, would almost certainly be sold during the transfer window.
After a series of reported bids and counter-bids from Juventus, Milan and Napoli, the Belgian international will put pen to paper with Roma, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The report said Nainggolan will visit the capital later Tuesday where he is expected to sign a four-and-a-half year deal with Rudi Garcia's side in a deal worth nine million euros to Cagliari.
Roma enjoyed a cracking start to the season under new coach Garcia, setting a Serie A record of 10 opening wins to underline their title credentials before a series of draws saw them slip behind leaders Juventus.
Champions Juventus currently have an eight-point lead over Roma with Napoli a further two points off the pace.
Nainggolan, born in Belgium to an Indonesian father and Belgian mother, has played four times for his national side and is scheduled to make his World Cup debut at Brazil 2014 this summer.
