Atletico Madrid added to their attacking ranks Thursday with the signing of striker Nikola Kalinic from AC Milan.

It cost around €15 million to acquire the Croatian international, reports Sky Sport Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio.

Kalinic put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Los Rojiblancos.

The 30-year-old struggled to make an impact in his first and only season at San Siro, scoring six goals in 31 Serie A appearances. Supporters grew impatient as he missed chance after chance in front of goal.

His name was further sullied when he was sent home by Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic for reportedly refusing to come on as a substitute during the group stage of the World Cup. A nagging back injury was the official reason for his withdrawal.

Kalinic will have to settle for a bench role at the Wanda Metropolitano, with Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa set to lead Diego Simeone's men. Kevin Gameiro is also an option for the Atletico manager.
