Seedorf, who won four Champions League titles during his playing career, two of them with the Rossoneri, will undertake his fourth managerial role. His coaching career has not been a huge success so far - he has just four months at Milan, five months at Chinese club Shenzhen, and three-and-a-half months at La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna to his name.
He will now take on a new challenge with The Indomitable Lions, and will be assisted in his role by his former Ajax and Netherlands teammate Patrick Kluivert. Cameroon's Sports Minister Pierre Ismael Bidoung Mpkatt confirmed that details of Seedorf's contract will be announced later in August, according to BBC Sport's Oluwashina Okeleji.
Okeleji suggests Seedorf was appointed after a longstanding pursuit of former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson ultimately proved unsuccessful.
Seedorf and Kluivert's first test will come in the form of a 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Comoros on Sept. 7. Cameroon is hosting the tournament finals, which will take place next summer.
