Barcelona are set to continue their summer midfield recruitment drive.

The La Liga giants will add to the arrivals of Arthur and Malcom by signing Bayern Munich anchor Arturo Vidal in a deal worth £27 million, the Guardian's Ed Aarons and Fabrizio Romano report. He will shortly undertake a medical in Catalonia.

The Chile midfielder at one point looked set to join Serie A side Inter before talks on a move stalled. He met with Blaugrana staff last week to agree to personal terms on a move to the Camp Nou after being told by new Bayern boss Niko Kovac that he can leave Bavaria. Bayern have signed Leon Goretzka from Schalke and welcomed Renato Sanches back from loan this summer to bolster their central midfield options, and Vidal is the man who will lose out.

The 31-year-old, who has won a domestic league title in each of his last seven seasons, has played 132 games for Bayern since his reported £32-million switch from Juventus in 2015. However, his campaign was cut short in April after he was forced to have surgery on his knee.

Barca, who have already spent more than £100 million this summer on Arthur, Malcom, and Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet, had been keen on Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The Guardian claims PSG's unwillingness to part with him prompted the La Liga side to turn to Vidal.
