Roma signs Argentinian playmaker Pastore from PSG

Continuing a busy day for AS Roma, the Italian club announced on Tuesday the signing of Argentinian attacking midfielder Javier Pastore from Paris Saint-Germain.

According to the Giallorossi's official website, the deal for the 29-year-old is worth €24.7 million.

The confirmation of Pastore's signing comes just hours after the Italian capital club sold Radja Nainggolan to Inter Milan, while Davide Santon and Nicolo Zaniolo moved in the opposite direction.

Pastore said: "I am very happy to be here at Roma. It is great to return to Italy, and to do it with such a great club.

"I hope to repay in full all the enthusiasm, support and affection that Roma fans have shown me already."

In joining Roma, Pastore, who will retain the No. 27 shirt he mostly wore in Paris, has completed a return to Serie A after spending two years at Palermo between 2009 and 2011.

Despite facing sporadic injury struggles and strong competition from global stars in recent years at PSG, Pastore amassed over 250 appearances for the club in all competitions across seven years.

A semi-regular player in a similarly top-heavy Argentina squad, Pastore has won 29 caps for his country, although his last international appearance came in the form of a 15-minute substitute cameo back in September.

Pastore becomes the eighth signing in a summer of refurbishment for the Stadio Olimpico club, and comes with a huge billing. Roma's sporting director, Monchi, said: "In my career as a sporting director I have signed a lot of players, but Javier might just be the one with the most talent."
