Party on hold: Roma tops Juventus to keep Scudetto race alive
Juventus still has some work to do to make history.
The Bianconeri had a chance to secure a record sixth consecutive Scudetto on Sunday, needing just a point against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.
The Giallorossi had other ideas.
Goals from Daniele De Rossi, Stephan El Shaarawy, and Radja Nainggolan wiped out Mario Lemina's opener as the capital-based club kept its slim title hopes alive by dispatching Massimiliano Allegri's rotated side.
Juve, with Coppa Italia and Champions League finals on the horizon, rested a few key starters; Alex Sandro and Giorgio Chiellini didn't feature, while Paulo Dybala and Dani Alves both started on the bench before coming on in the second half.
Those in their stead could not get the necessary point to secure the league title.
Juventus, now four points ahead of Roma with two matches remaining, gets another opportunity to clinch the hardware on May 21, when relegation-battler Crotone makes the trip to Turin.
