Genoa fires Ivan Juric as manager, appoints Andrea Mandorlini
The anger at Genoa resulted in a managerial casualty on Sunday.
Hours after Genoa's 5-0 humiliation at Pescara, the Grifone announced Ivan Juric was fired as the club's manager, and appointed Andrea Mandorlini to replace the Yugoslavian tactician until June 2018.
The embarrassment marked Pescara's first victory of the 2016-17 Serie A, discounting the Delfini's win over Sassuolo, which was awarded after the fielding of an ineligible player.
According to Football Italia, Genoa's squad was, after the match, greeted by around 100 ultras who attacked the team bus at the airport, prompting police to intervene.
Juric, who represented Croatia during his playing career, was appointed as Genoa's manager last year after guiding Crotone, a club from one of Italy's poorest towns, to Serie A for the first time in its history.
